Kebiasaan ini sih sudah sejak dulu, tahun 1997 sepertinya awal dari “perburuan” cakar saya. Cakar merupakan singkatan dari Cap Karung. Istilah yang dipakai di Makassar untuk barang-barang bekas dari luar negeri. Karena dibungkus karung makanya diberi istilah Cap Karung atau CK

Beberapa tahun yang lalu memang masih sulit untuk medapatkannya, kita malah harus menyiapkan waktu khusus untuk berwisata cakar ke daerah Pare-pare, kota terbesar ke dua di Sulawesi Selatan setelah Makassar yang memiliki pelabuhan besar pusat perdagangan antar daerah. Membeli barang bekas sebenarnya punya kenikmatan tersendiri apalagi jika mendapat barang bermerk dengan harga murah. Walaupun sebenarnya kadang terpikir barang ini sebelumnya milik siapa?

Membeli barang cakar ternyata susah susah gampang. Yang pertama menurut saya adalah kesabaran. Kadang kita sangat terpengaruh dengan pemandangan yang “lusuh” dan “kumuh”. Jika sudah terekam kata “tidak menarik” di kepala, jangan harap kita bisa mendapatkan barang yang bagus yang memang kadang terselip di antara barang-barang itu. Benetton, Loius Vitton, Cartier, Uniqlo adalah merk-merk yang pernah saya dapatkan dengan nilai puluhan ribu saja. Itu berkat kesabaran saya memilih. Caranya pun unik, saya akan mengambil barang/baju yang sekilas kelihatan bagus atau sesuai dengan selera saya. Tumpukan sortiran pertama bisa saja sampai 20 lembar baju. Mungkin itu pun mempengaruhi penjual, pasti dia berpikir saya akan memborong banyak barangnya dan pasti sudah terbayang mereka akan kembali modal

Tapi itu metode sortiran saya, saya bisa menyortir hingga 4 atau 5 kali hingga tersisa 3-5 lembar baju saja. Sortiran menurutku penting, namanya saja barang bekas, pasti ada cacat yang membuat pemilik pertamanya tidak ingin mengenakan baju itu lagi.

Untuk pasar baju cakar yang sering saya kunjungi adalah di Pasar Daya dan Pasar Terong, memang harus berpanas-panas dan pintar menawar, tetapi di dua tempat ini masih tergolong murah dibanding di Jl. Andalas, Jl. Ratulangi dan pasar Toddopuli. Tapi di pasar Toddopuli saya malah punya langganan, khusus toko sepatu bekas. Namanya Agus. Karena dia tahu saya suka dengan sepatu boots, dia kadang menyimpankan khusus saat Buka Baru, membongkar bal (karung) yang mereka beli secara acak.

Pedagang cakar ini memang jadi seperti berjudi, membeli barang yang mereka cuma tahu kategorinya. Baju wanita, Celana jeans, tas wanita, sepatu pria, baju anak-anak dsb. Mereka tidak boleh memilih isinya, bagus tidaknya barang tetap harus diterima apa adanya.

Mungkin yang paham adalah distributornya, 1 bal itu bisa dijual dari harga 5 juta sampai 10 juta rupiah. Pedagang ecerannya kadang hanya mengejar penjualan sampai balik modal saja, sisa barangnya kadang dijual borongan lagi ke pasar-pasar kecil. Maka tidak heran kita bisa dapatkan harga baju cuma seharga Rp. 2.000 s/d Rp. 5.000 saja, bahkan sapu tangan baru pun lebih mahal.

Barang-barang bekas sekarang yang marak berasal dari Korea atau  Jepang. Kebetulan saya memang suka dengan model-model baju mereka, makin semangat rasanya berburu cakar. Dan sebenarnya jika beruntung kita pun bisa mendapatkan sesuatu di kantong sang pemilik, uang 1000 yen misalnya, dan itu pernah saya dapatkan.
