Mengangkat Derajat Bangsa dengan Menggunakan FOSS/LINUX – #ILC2012malang

Berlangsung di Malang tanggal 15-16 September, Indonesia Linux Conference (ILC) tahun 2012 ini adalah ILC yang ke-8 dalam sejarah pelaksanaannya. Ajang kumpul tahunan ini memang selalu ditunggu oleh para pengguna dan pencinta Linux / open source. Penunjukan KPLI (Kelompok Pengguna Linux Indonesia) Malang dilakukan saat ILC tahun lalu yang berlangsung di Dompu, Nusa Tenggara Barat.

ILC 2012 seperti di tahun-tahun sebelumnya dirangkaikan dengan acara-acara yang berhubungan dengan penggunaan OS Linux danย  Open Source Software. Dilaksanakan di STIKI, acara yang berlangsung tanggal 15 โ€“ 16 September 2012, diisi dengan seminar yang dibawakan pak Onno W. Purbo, pakar IT Indonesia dan Pak Rusmanto Maryanto, bapak linux Indonesia yang setia mendampingi KPLI selama ini, beliau juga adalah pemimpin redaksi dari majalah Infolinux.

Adalah suatu kebiasaan yang tidak tertulis, KPLI meeting yang merupakan acara puncak dilaksanakan sore hingga malam hari.ย  Meeting ini adalah waktu dimana para utusan KPLI se Indonesia membagikan informasi mengenai perkembangan penggunaan OS Linux di daerah masing-masing. Yang baru pada ILC kali ini, tim dari Jogja didaulat mendapatkan KPLI award karena berhasil membawa sekitar 18 anggota sebagai perwakilan yang terdiri dari KSL (Kelompok Study Linux) dari beberapa universitas di Jogja.

Dibandingkan beberapa tahun yang lalu, memang jelas terasa bahwa Linux sudah mulai banyak dikenal orang. Berbagai distro yang terkenal seperti Ubuntu, Slackware, BlankOn, dsb seperti sudah tidak asing di telinga. KPLI meeting pun dipenuhi dengan semangat-semangat muda dari kalangan mahasiswa. Fokus tidak hanya pada Operating Sistem saja, untuk aplikasi aplikasi open source pun sudah mulai disosialisasikan dan menjadi pesaing tangguh untuk aplikasi-aplikasi yang source code nya tertutup.

Pak Nana Suryana, Pengembang IGOS Nusantara dari LIPI juga turut hadir mengikuti meeting ini. Beliau menganjurkan untuk bisa menggunakan produk OS dari dalam negeri sendiri. Meningkatkan harkat bangsa memang harus dimulai dari kita sendiri. Fokus semakin mengerucut, diharapkan kita bisa menggunakan produk karya anak bangsa sendiri seperti BlankOn dan IGOS Nusantara.

Distro Karampuang yang lebih spesifik pun telah dikembangkan oleh teman-teman dari KPLI Sinjai. Dan ini adalah beberapa contoh saja bahwa kita mampu untuk mengembangkan operating system sendiri, meramunya sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan dapat menjadikan kita juga terhitung sebagai bangsa yang mampu untuk independen dalam teknologi IT khususnya software.

Itulah yang menjadikan open source lebih dibandingkan dengan operating system proprietary. Mari bebas berkreasi, mari bebas menyatakan diri, open source software adalah medianya.
