Saya tahu saya agak melawan arus. Sekarang ini, dimana anak-anak di sekitar saya saling berlomba mengenal teknologi terkini, menenteng gawai terbaru dan bersama-sama keluarga makan di restauran mahal. Saya malah memilihkan anak saya untuk hidup sederhana, menjadi santri di luar pulau kelahirannya.

Menjadi single parent itu memang berat, sama rasanya seperti menelan pahit asumsi teman-teman tentang teganya saya membiarkan anak saya sendiri dan membiarkan diri saya sendiri berjuang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan mereka, saya tidak pernah berpikir untuk mundur. Anak saya harus bisa belajar mandiri. Memimpin diri sendiri yang utama agar bisa menjadi pemimpin untuk orang lain.Keyakinan ini yang membuat saya tetap pada rencana awal, menjadikan mereka santri.

Keadaan sekarang memang membuat saya agak kuatir. Anak-anak terlihat seperti dimanjakan berlebihan. Banyak teman-teman saya memiliki anak yang kurang bisa beradaptasi dengan dunia luar. Salah satu syarat dari dokter yang menanganinya adalah menjauhkan mereka dari gawai. Teknologi memang membantu, tetapi jika digunakan berlebihan pastilah akan berpengaruh negatif.

Di pondok pesantren, mereka tidak dibiarkan untuk memegang  bahkan handphone sekalipun. Alasan utamanya adalah agar mereka benar-benar bisa berkonsentrasi saat belajar. Berada di pondok santri dengan makanan sederhana bukan berarti mereka tidak terpenuhi gizinya. Saya malah kurang yakin dengan segala provokasi marketing untuk makanan-makanan cepat saji yang kelihatan memikat tetapi meracuni secara perlahan.

Sehat itu mahal jika kita sudah terbiasa hidup dengan kenyamanan dan gizi yang tak seimbang. Obat-obatan nutrisi untuk memenuhi kekurangan gizi kita itulah yang kadang membuat mahal. Di pesantren anak saya, makan ayam dibatasi. Kebanyakan sayur sayuran dan memang membuat berat badan anak saya turun drastis. Tetapi bukan berarti tidak sehat. Dia sendiri mengaku bahwa sekarang dia lebih nyaman belajar dan lebih ringan bergerak. Suasana pedesaan, udara yang masih segar serta kedisiplinan yang diterapkan menjadi kebiasaan untuk hidup teratur adalah modal untuk memiliki jiwa yang kuat. Terus terang saya tidak bisa menjamin kehidupan yang saya geluti sekarang bersih dari kebiasaan sehat. Bekerja sampai larut malam, kurang olah-raga, makan makanan cepat saji sudah pasti bisa mempengaruhi tumbuh kembang anak saya juga.

Tuntutan kehidupan membuat saya tidak bisa meluangkan waktu sebagai ibu yang menyiapkan makanan bagi mereka. Tetapi tugas saya untuk tetap memantau makanan bagi jiwanya itu yang terpenting. Untuk menjadi pemimpin harus belajar disiplin. Bertanggung jawab dan yang pasti tahu menghargai diri sendiri yaitu memilih yang terbaik untuk diri sendiri. Itu yang selalu saya sampaikan kepada anak saya.

Saya berharap, pengorbanan ini tidak sia-sia, dalam hati tetap yakin. Untuk membangun pribadi yang kuat memang harus dari dasar. Semoga cita-cita untuk menjadikan anak saya pemimpin tercapai. Seperti membiarkan anak burung yang belajar terbang. Jatuh dan sakit itu hal yang wajar agar bisa maju. Bersakit-sakit dahulu anakku, semoga dengan bekal ini kalian bisa menjalani hidup dengan tegar. Pikiran sehat, jiwa dan raga yang kuat. Membangun diri sendiri secara tidak langsung akan membangun ketahanan bangsa. Selamat berjuang pemimpin mudaku.
