Salah seorang teman ditimpa kemalangan, sepertinya kesulitan keuangan karena kondisi yang kemungkinannya besar pasak dari pada tiang. Yang menjadi masalah adalah kemalangan ini mulai merambah ke mana-mana.  Hampir semua orang yang dikenal dihubungi untuk dimintai pinjaman.  Awalnya saya bersimpati, tetapi rupanya perhatian yang diberikan itu tidak terbalas sesuai harapan. Janji tinggal janji dan akhirnya malah merusak kepercayaan yang ada sebelumnya. Beruntung kalau cuma saya yang merasakan tapi jika dirasakan oleh kesemua teman yang membantunya ini bukan menyelesaikan masalah, tetapi lebih mempersulit dirinya.

Sepertinya hampir semua kita pernah mengalami masalah keuangan. Jadi sepatutnya kita banyak belajar agar tidak terjerat pada keadaan yang tidak menyenangkan. Saya pun demikian, jeratan dari kartu kredit yang dulu saya miliki. Sepertinya gaya hidup dan tidak disiplin pada diri adalah penyebab utama. Salah dalam menentukan kategori “butuh” dan menempatkan keinginan sebagai suatu hal yang harus dipenuhi.

Manusia memang tidak terlepas dari kata ingin. Mungkin atas dasar itu dalam beragama kita dilatih untuk mengendalikan nafsu atau keinginan. Seseorang pernah berkata, cara paling mujarab untuk menekan keinginan adalah dimulai dari perut. Itu latihannya.

Jika berbicara tentang diri sendiri mungkin memang sedikit lebih bisa dikendalikan, yang bisa lebih memberatkan adalah jika keinginan anggota keluarga kita. Seperti seorang ibu yang ingin memenuhi segala keinginan anaknya agar mereka bisa senang dan puas. Saya pun demikian memiliki perasaan seperti itu. Tetapi saya pun belajar mengendalikannya. Tidak semua yang diminta oleh anak-anak itu baik bagi mereka. Saya malahan berpikir mereka harus tahu kondisi dimana ada permintaan atau keinginan yang tidak atau belum terpenuhi. Belajar untuk bersabar.

Yang paling utama selain hidup sesuai dengan pendapatan adalah “Jangan membayar hutang dengan berhutang”. Ini pantangan bagi orang yang benar-benar ingin menyelesaikan permasalahan hutang. Lubang yang digali akibat menutup lubang yang lain akan lebih besar dan semakin besar. Disiplin dan mampu merencanakan dengan baik. Daftar prioritas tentang kebutuhan sangat penting, sehingga pengeluaran bisa dikendalikan agar tidak lebih besar dari pendapatan. Dan yang utama pula adalah menjaga kepercayaan kepada siapa pun. Jangan merasa mudah untuk meminjam, karena meminjam bukan solusi.

Semoga setiap orang yang kesulitan diberikan kemudahan dalam menyelesaikannya tidak dengan menutup lubang dengan menggali lubang yang lebih besar.
