Beberapa kali, setiap saya berkesempatan pulang ke Makassar saya harus meredam keinginan untuk makan sesuai dengan selera.
Sebagai ibu, sudah pastilah saya lebih mengutamakan keinginan anak-anak saya.

“Tunggu mi kakak, pasti ummi selalu tanya kita mau makan apa”, begitu logat khas Amdan berbicara dengan kakaknya.
Setiap berkesempatan menjemput mereka dari pesantren saya memang hampir pasti menanyakan itu. Beda selera sama anak-anak saya anggap wajar, sama seperti saya mereka pun punya keinginan untuk makan masakan tertentu, dan saya mengalah.

Tapi kali ini beda, saya akhirnya mendapat kesempatan untuk makan di tempat yang disebut “nikmat”.

Kesan pertama, tempatnya bersih. Jejeran makanan siap saji tertata rapih. Dan memang, saya terkagum-kagum sendiri melihat menu yang disajikan. Ini memang masakan rumah, masakan nenek di rumah dulu. Ada pallu mara, ada paria kambu bahkan lawi-lawi (rumput laut) yang dilalap pun ada.

Tanpa pikir panjang, dan tanpa malu malu saya ambil juga makanan apa yang saya inginkan. Saya kan bayar, pikirku. Persepsi tentang perempuan yang sebaiknya makan sedikit, saya abaikan. Tidak untuk hari itu! Dan hari hari selanjutnya di tempat itu!

Makanku lahap, murni dengan bantuan lima jari tangan kanan. Untung saja saya tidak ikutan mengangkat kaki kanan di kursi. Padahal saya yakin jika demikian makanan itu terasa lebih nikmat

Warung Makassar, membuat saya mengingat kenangan masa kecil saya. Masakannya persis seperti yang dimasak oleh nenek. Suapan tangan keriputnya seperti tersaji dengan rasa masakan ini. Saya terbawa ke masa lalu. Rasa memang bisa mengantar kita ke mana saja.

Katanya harga bisa menjamin kualitas. Tapi di warung ini tidak mahal. Makan seorang bisa habis cuma sekitar Rp.17.000,- itupun sudah dengan minum dan kerupuk ditambah puas lahir bathin. Modal yang cukup untuk membuat saya akan datang lagi.
