Sebenarnya film ini sudah beberapa kali mamie nonton. Perasaan ini film animasi yang paling sering mamie putar. CD nya saja sudah 2 kali mamie beli cd nya dan semua rusak gara-gara keseringan diputar oleh Amdan. Hingga setiap act dari Alex- si singa, Marty-si zebra bahkan gaya Gloria-si kuda nil dengan sangat tepat Amdan dapat menirunya tepat bersamaan dengan scene nya.

Semalam, mamie nonton lagi di HBO, dan seperti sebelum-sebelumnya mamie tetap bisa menikmatinya. Bahkan lebih tersirat pesan-pesan dibanding ketika mamie nonton sebelum-sebelumnya.

Hidup adalah pilihan. Memang adalah benar. Kita bisa memilih hidup di habitat sendiri atau di kota lain yang penuh dengan gemerlap dan segala ketersediaan. Dan kadang pada saat kita dikelilingi oleh segala kenikmatan duniawi, tetap saja ada perasaan kurang. Rumput tetangga lebih hijau dari rumput sendiri. Kadang sesuatu yang diangankan itu “nampak” indah dibanding kenyataan. Sehingga keadaan seindah apa pun masih saja dianggap kurang. Hal ini terlihat dari sikap Marty yang selalu berkhayal akan kembali ke habitatnya. Hanya melalui gambar, dia membiarkan angannya berkembang sehingga tidak melihat hal hal yg baik disekitarnya. Tapi itulah realita kehidupan dan mamie yakin semua orang pernah berpikir tentang hal tersebut.

Hal yang paling menarik yg digambarkan adalah persahabatan. Sangat ekstrim memang pemilihan karakter Alex, singa dan Marty, si zebra. Dalam realitas kehidupan pastilah singa tidak akan bersahabat dengan seekor zebra. Tetapi mungkin itulah yang ingin digambarkan. Bahwa dalam perbedaan yang sangat mencolok pun mampu terjalin persahabatan yang murni. Perubahan yang terjadi pada Alex memang dipengaruhi oleh lingkungannya dimana dia seharusnya berasal. Menjadi sang raja hutan. Dan adalah kodratnya untuk memangsa Marty, sahabatnya. Tapi apakah dia mampu? Ternyata pergolakan bathin antara kepentingan dirinya dan pertemanan membuat dia sangat tersiksa. Tidak bisa memilih. Akhirnya dia memilih untuk meninggalkan Marty yang selama ini menjadi sahabatnya dalam suka dan duka. Memilih mengasingkan diri dan hidup tanpa kawan sebagai raja hutan. Sosok Marty juga adalah gambaran sahabat sejati. Seharusnya dia sudah bisa meninggalkan pulau Madagaskar, dimana mereka terdampar. Tetapi tidak. Dia dengan resiko kehilangan nyawa berusaha sekuat tenaga untuk bisa menyadarkan Alex dan membawanya kembali bersama ke tempat dimana sebelumnya keseharian adalah hal yang menyenangkan. Apakah ada sahabat seperti itu dizaman sekarang seperti ini? Kepentingan akan diri sendiri menjadi sangat dominan. Jangankan sahabat, kadang keluarga sendiri bisa kita abaikan untuk memuaskan keinginan diri sendiri.

Tetapi itu kadang kita sadari apa bila kita sudah membuat khayalan yang semula tampak indah menjadi nyata. Saat itu barulah biasanya kita berpikir, betapa indahnya kenyataan yang dulu. Tetapi seandainya begitu pun bagi mamie itu pelajaran dan bukan penyesalan. Setiap keputusan memiliki resiko. Tinggal kesiapan atas resiko tersebut.

Saatnya kita selalu menghargai apa yang ada di depan kita. Berharap sesuatu bukannya sesuatu yang haram, tetapi jika dengan itu mengabaikan kenikmatan yang kita alami sekarang mungkin kita lebih perlu menyadari.

Yah.. Banyak sebenarnya pembelajaran dari kehidupan sehari-hari bahkan dari film sekalipun. Semoga membuat mamie lebih kuat dan mengerti akan arti hidup dan mengerti serta menghargai persahabatan sejati.
